I am under the impression that the lights we see in the demo are simple defaults. Designers will be able to construct their own light fixures, select color temp and diffusion levels, right? If so, how complex could these lights systems get? Would a lighted football/baseball stadium be possible?

Thanks for your reply. Maybe there will be fewer problems once people start updating from within X-Plane.

If you do change the demo code, there is also a small bug with the updater. If you select quit you get the choice to quit or continue updating, but if you choose continue, it quits anyway!

#1 I agree 100%, rain in the crj-200 by javier is awesome, that is how it should be all the time, i thought v10 was moving away from tunnel vision like lined rain.

#2- seasonal changes will come, austin said this in his presentation

3-of course, agree

4- agree.

My criticism is that the powerlines are a bit silly at times. They have a tendency of grouping, favourably on or near highways.. i hope there’s something that can be done about that.

Also.. is there a way to make the couds move? They seem to just hang there like static patches of cotton wool, unaffected by wind, storm, even a hurricane won’t butch them. I’m assuming that that aspect of the weather system is yet to be implemented.. it’d make it such a lot better. Also the aurora borealis looks a bit rediculius.. lol.. hopefully that can be changed in something a bit better looking.

Some more little niggles:

– We need more colours for the traffic (cars): everything is either grey or umm.. dark-grey.
– Props need to be more transparent
– The heat-blur effect needs to be proportional (it’s just on or off right now), and extend as more thrust is applied. I really do like this effect, but it’d be so nice if it behaved realistically
– The silly little puffs of smoke generated by AI planes everytime they apply brakes need to go.
– Sound for AI-planes
– White and sodium streetlights. Right now it looks like it’s all sodium (orange) light. In reality, you’ll only find sodium lights near highways, while other lights are usually white)

Mind you, i like the sim the way it is, but this is just a little wish-list with things that would make it a little closer to perfection IMO. Keep up the good work!

Ok back to a bit more of nightflying.

We are _not_ going to combine the programs. Here is why:
In the old days they were the same program. And we had a huge number of tech support problems where users would go to update X-Plane and instead accidentally download a new copy, then contact tech support (after a huge download) because their settings/add-ons/etc. were gone. Or better yet, they’d file a bug report that the add-on no longer worked.

Since we separated the apps, this has completely gone away.

The problem of partial downloads is a new one, brought on by slow DL speeds from the intense demand for X-Plane 10 demos. So we do need to do something less stupid in the demo installer – some kind of revert and resume, but I we can’t go back to one program.
