Our long term intention is to give developers the -option- of DRM but not make it mandatory. If a developer only wants to be on X-Plane if their work product is not sharable, we are okay with that. If a developer doesn’t want/need DRM, we’re not forcing it on anyone. We can’t really demand that payware third parties be open for the education of others, even if it is a benefit.

I think the open nature of X-Plane formats is what greatly contributed to its growth in the last years. The ability to look at the work of other developers and “see how it’s done” is only comparable to the early days of the Internet, and in my opinion (as a developer) shouldn’t be hindered by DRM.

Will be very nice if X-Plane will ofer some little protection to developers! Clearly, will no be security, because this is not a bank, or finances accounts, but maybe some protection the people who spent lot of time will be fine! Thank you!

Using the particle system for rain sounds really cool ! I think MS Flight had something similar as you flow into the clouds. Looking fwd to seeing that when you guys get it implement !

Are these winter shaders planed for 11 or 12 ? I am guessing 12.

Now we know why core sim updates have been a bit on the thin side of late. Glad you guys are taking the plunge early. I’m all for it.

A request: While I know this is the scenery forum, could you post some information for we plugin authors? And, will there be any updates to the SDK? It’s been waiting… 😉

Awesome! Looks gorgeous! Can’t wait!!

Is possible to insert in a future version some tools to help against piracy? Like the possibility of compile the DSF and OBJ files in order to be accessed only by X-Plane. It would help a lot to develop a DRM plugin.

That’s because it -is- the latest stable version. I’d say don’t upload lots of tiny changes, as it makes extra moderation work. But you don’t need to make the be-all-and-end-all to upload; if you compelte one useful bit of work, it ‘s worth it to push it.

So for example, if you fix all of the validation errors in your taxi routes, you can upload it even if you haven’t upgraded your ramp starts.

If you’re uploading more than once a month -per airport-, it’s probably too frequent; if you’re going to have an even better in a small number of weeks, better to consolidate.

btw. when doing WED projects, are we supposed to commit often with small changes between the commits, to make the individual reviews faster, or commit “when done” to have less commits for you to review?
