This is Eric, the translator of Chinese version WED 1.6 manual.
Some advice for further development:
1) 3D preview in working pane (Similar to Overlay editor) may be a helpful function, and it’s what I’m dreaming for.
2) Night Texture Preview?… A little bit ridiculous, but also helpful.
3) Has the option to Import OSM data to improve the density and accuracy of road network?
4) Bug or what?: Blastpad disappeared (actually it’s pretty dim) in XP when using Ortho as background
5) More options on ground texture! Taxiway, runway, grass….

It’s been a long time since the last update, hope we could see more function in next public version; and please, also consider what I mentioned above!

We have a couple of new editing functions (merge/split polygons and lines, convert taxiways into polygons etc), more real time previews and a few really cool backgroup map displays already done. We also picked up another guy to help coding this all up, so its gotta be very-soon-now (TM) until the next minor version update.

Ben has said publicly that Vulkan (and Metal on Mac) will constitute the next major chunk of X-Plane development after VR. So, the answer is Soon™, but we don’t have anything resembling a timeline yet.
