I second this,
I feel that there is so much ground art in X-Plane, but hardly any of it gets applied in a “smart” manner. (not to cause any offense)

Feels like Outerra tries to create convincing terrain, buy using less textures, and more procedural terrain noise and smarter biome/vegetation depiction. Maybe a system like Bakr said, could be used for mobile? Maybe it could be used to lower vram? I’m certainly not an expert in that area.

If this is applicable to X-Plane’s needs and case usage, is for Laminar to decide, although I’m certainly not in the camp of “lets move X-Plane to Unreal or Outerra…because it looks pretty.” Just merely taking ideas and concepts from established engines.

First of all, to have a sufficient sound quality is definitely important (and it was absolutely ok now).

Everything else, surely is a matter of taste, but I like it this rough and pure way.

I did not find it boring at all (skipped one part that was not interesting for me) and to make a more fancy live stream would take a lot of more effort. You would at least need an experienced producer and a good camera guy. And maybe all the natural, relaxed and funny spirit would be gone…

And, also, just imagine the whole production team came one day late. ; )

Any chance you could comment on the 2 very first questions asked in the previous RFC blog e.g. regarding plans for mesh patching support and future HD scenery recuts?

These guys are all very professional in the way they approach the flight simulators and the flights they perform. Many of them are real-world pilots. Some of them former real world airshow pilots. It’s a very close knit tight community. And for too many years we have been basically hamstrung by having to rely on a single platform. I speak for many of us when I say we are eagerly awaiting the day when we can put on our shows in Xplane. The fact that you guys alluded to the “possibility of having synchronized ground crews blew our minds!. It’s 1 of the things we have tried to figure out how to program ourselves, but the current platform We run on does not support it. How exciting it will be to have the pilots standing in front of the aircraft salute their ground crews climb in and start their engines! Currently The guys are gearing up for the next series of shows in the coming months. We also have our own virtual air racing series which closely mimics both Red Bull and Reno style air races. Let me say also I will soon be taking delivery of my Pimax 8K VR headset, it would be my honor to be able to test 11.30 and get back to you on what we find.

I’m interested to see what Xplane will do on a top-of-the-line computer system

Yep, a whole day mistake. These people are geniuses who don’t understand calendars or time zones. I’ve seen the movie Rainman, so I guess it’s plausible.
Hey Laminar, we really appreciate the effort trying to patronise us poor Europeans, but next time, please schedule it for early evening, not at 10pm. Of course getting the day right is a prerequisite.
