He can transmit his pasison very easily and makes the ride very entertaining. It’s really amazing how X-Plane moves from “tuning it to feel like real” to drop the naked aircraft in the world, notice the emergent behavior and fine tune the world.

The flight model and the weather engine are acting like a big neural network. Austin is throwing aircraft to them and train them to treat these aircraft realistically. This has the benefit of bringing more simplicity in 3rd party aircraft developers and also it propagates benefits to the entire fleet from every single fine tuning.

Congratulations on this amazing work and thank you for sharing the knowledge with us.

So exited for XP12.

How does the stall work on the F-4? In XP11 it stalls if I pull up too much. Is that going to be more accurate in the new version of X-Plane?

The right tool for the job, eh? 😉

Thanks for sharing Ben

Real life is the test of a high fidelity simulation… if you put in the real numbers you get the right result, but only if your model is refined enough to capture nuances to this level of detail …. and it’s how the real world works … balancing all those tensions in real time !! Bravo again Sir !

For an encore , please do a squirrel suit !!!!! 🙂 j/k … can’t say how much i loved reading this !!

Great work! Looking forward to try the improved dynamics in X-Plane 12!

I code the flight model myself. Every single line of code referenced above was written by me, personally. My only help was constant interaction with the F-4 pilot with a constant flow of information on how the real F-4 flies. Other people at LR do other stuff in X-Plane. I exclusively do the flight model.

PS. Does Austin really code it all by himself? Or does he need to practice saying “we” more. 😉
