I don’t want to say anything and risk murphy’s law, but it looks like the CRJ will see the light of day after all.
I always enjoy seeing third party add-ons that really show what the rendering engine is capable of. Also, it’s good to know that Javier brushes his teeth. 🙂
This really is impressive.
With 5,000 actual hours flying for United Express, and retired, I can
Hardly wait for this Super Aircraft
Javier sets a pretty high bar for the rest of we so-called modelers and designers to reach. Great videography too.
Is this with X-Plane 9 or 10?
I think Javier is going to ship for v9, then port to v10, but you’d have to get the direct scoop from him.
the question was about the rendering in the video… it looked as if it was done with v10 (e.g. the landing gear compressing as the plane touches down)
Compression on landing gear is possible in X-Plane 9. The sim models it in physics, you build a 3-d model of the gear that compresses and wire it up.
How about the lighting though? That seemed pretty v10.
Awesome! That’ll be the first thing I get after new X-Plane 🙂
This is INSANE! I have to get this, i’m such a victim…
YES, Victims United
I’ve been waiting for this since 2009! They have my money on this one for sure! Hopefully It’ll have accurate flight model and systems!
Is there a way to communicate a wish for XP10 to use same cinema verite-style as in the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjmL_ZrrSwo&feature=related
It truly makes everything look -so- much real. Nothing else than stunning. Also check out the landing in the end of the clip. Could we please have this in XP10?
This is why I now stick to scenery developemnt and don’t model aircraft anymore! At least buildings don’t move. I may well fork out.
My untrained eye tells me there is a mix of X-Plane 10 and X-Plane 9 in this video. I am sure plenty of scenes which we would say, “Surely has to be X-Plane 10. I’ve never seen anything like that in X-Plane 9!” that will indeed turn out to be X-Plane 9. But I’m going to wager there some X-Plane 10 here. Looks pretty sweet.
Bet that will flatter Ben Seb! My fairly practiced eye says no xp10, just some choice scenery and cool camerawork by Javier. Check out his LESA scenery at his site, it’s very good.
Not a fan of “shaky cam” at all, but that plane looks incredible!
The video was filmed in X-Plane 9 with a lot of custom scenery installed, many of them MSFS conversions.
However, the CRJ was tested with current X-Plane 10 beta and works well there, too.
Thanks Ben for posting this here. I have been hacking on this plane for months now and I must admit I like the excitement that we sparked 🙂
Always three greens,
Philipp
I need to clarify this.
X-PLANE TEN IS NOT IN BETA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I repeat.
X-PLANE TEN IS NOT IN BETA. BUILDS OF X-PLANE TEN ARE NOT BETAS. NO ONE HAS A BETA.
Javier, in his work for Laminar Research, has access to a development build of X-Plane 10. It is not yet a beta, it’s a dev build and no one outside the company has it. Anyway, Javier took the liberty of loading his own plane into it to see what would happen. I’m shocked that it worked. I do think that getting v9 planes to work in v10 is not going to cause authors a time sink, I’m only surprised that the current dev build doesn’t have more wrong with it.
I’m shocked that you are shocked, Ben.
I would rather call it good engineering on your side.
Philipp
How far are you guys *planning* to be able to have backward compatibility for aircraft? 9.6+? I know you can’t promise anything though…
It is Avaiable right now, Hurry, Hurry, Hurry, it is Fantasic
But be prepared, alot of study is involved. This is not a Kick the Tires and Go machine!
