I didn’t think we’d be able to show this, but…

I don’t care what day it is, that’s cool.
No wonder we have to wait till the end of the year for XP 10 😉
You keep doing silly things instead of real work :p
I cannot take credit for another man’s genius – that video actually comes from Propsman, and (astoundingly) it was actually made almost ten months ago.
(That was a simulation of the pig-mounted camera system Alex planned to use to acquire facade imagery for the new autogen.)
I just realised something… April fools aside… and maybe I’m totally wrong here BUT, sure X-Farm is a joke but once again BUT, I can’t help but notice that the pig is in X-Plane 10. So that’s my first assumption. The second assumption goes by some of the earlier stuff that we were seeing in the blogs… specifically I’m referring to the post which talked about object oriented programming which was mentioned in the October 4th 2010 post. Yet more specifically, the pig is walking… all well and good (have some ideas about how to make it walk but that’s just mechanics and not important to what I’m trying to say) but it’s also tilting it’s head on a regular basis, and a flash is going off on the camera. SO what does this mean to me? Well the way I look at it, we’re seeing the first iteration of people in X-Plane… maybe a pig was used to cleverly mask the fact that pigs are human’s closest relative genetically speaking or maybe because April fools is all about pigs flying but either way, we can see that the pig has joints and limbs which can also obviously be created to make humans and to have them do scripted stuff! So, sure X-Farm was a joke, BUT what is shown here, certainly isn’t i.e. we’re seeing a wierd looking person!
Initially I was disappointed with the April fools post because I was eagerly awaiting a new update, but now I realised that it’s exactly what I got. Once again… I could be wrong, but heck, I’ve got a feeling I’m not.
The pig’s tail is not like a spring, what happened to the plausible world?…….I just CAN’T wait to see a video showing the full potential of xp10, it’s going to be huge!, except for that ridiculous straight tail…;)
Can´t see the video, all it says is “waiting for video” 🙁
Firefox 3.6.16
Shame on me, turns out I didn´t have quicktime installed though I thought I did… move along, nothing to see here 🙂
Just a question… is a light such as a camera flash meant to be so bright on the ground during daylight?
whether pigs or any new animals are coming, the walking features and realism looks great. Besides that, the suburban street with houses looks very good!
I think Google’s next update to Streetview will be a little lame… Sidewalk pig view?
Beat me to it Mark! If not streetview pig, it’s Nasty Mobile Speed Camera Pig, with the ability to issue plausible speeding fines – because it can!
Mark and Simon: for your information, the official term is SnoutView. The image acquisition system worked very well, and allowed me to establish a significant quantity of original imagery from which I am now busily engaged in producing artwork for v10. The collection possibly includes rather more photos of fallen acorns and interesting-looking muddy patches than are strictly necessary for my immediately purposes, but I find that things always seem to work better when you give trustworthy colleagues a little slack.
