Like most major updates to X-Plane, we are working on a quick bug-fix patch, and it will be out soon. (This will be 10.41 and will only aim to fix critical bugs.) At this point it’s looking like I’ll have a 10.41 release candidate up Monday.*
There are unfortunately a few things that are causing a ton of bug reports that we can’t easily fix in X-Plane.
- On OS X, crashes in SASL and red artifacts on Nvidia drivers. I’ve updated the post on these bugs with work-arounds.
- On Windows 10, auto-update can fail; Jennifer put up a knowledge base article with the work-around.
New Gateway airports will not go into 10.41; we’ll get more airports released as soon as possible once we get major bugs fixed.
There is one more bug I am looking into: quite a few users are seeing crash in audio code, only on – all together now – Windows 10. Since we ship a DLL of OpenAL I am hoping we can figure out what’s going on and fix it. I’ll post more when I get more info.
* Last night I finally reproduced a bug that I have suspected for a very long time: if you have a third party scenery library that modifies the cars and the right set of conditions happens, X-Plane will crash.
Nearly every bug report I’ve seen of this is of the form “I was just flying for a long time and X-Plane crashed” – no user had figured out that it was (1) traffic related or (2) due to third party libraries.
I should have a fix for this in 10.41 but in the meantime if you are in the “I was flying and crashed” camp, try turning off cars and see if things stabilize. If things get better, you can turn cars back on in 10.41.
Yeah, I’m having several bug issues. Is there ANY WAY POSSIBLE to revert back to my last version?
Please include an updated earth_nav.dat in 10.41 with fixes for the NAVAID bugs filed on the Gateway!
We are -not- going to do this – navaid bug fixes will come soon but 10.41 is for “it crashes” bugs only. We can’t put every bug fix in the world into 10.41 or 10.41 will take too long to release.
Which “third party scenery library” do you suspect? I run SkyMaxx Pro and I’ve seen the random crashing issue. I can certainly run without it for a while and see if the issue reasserts itself. The crash doesn’t often happen so it’s hard to isolate.
Skymaxx is not a library – it’s a plugin. The libraries I suspect are third party car libraries that alter x-plane’s traffic. I tried a few popular ones and wasn’t able to reproduce the crash; when I created my own car library I could reproduce the exact crash we had reported.
Okay, thanks for clarifying. If it’s any help, I’m not running third party car libraries that I’m aware of and I have experienced random crashes, which I’ve dutifully reported with both system crash and x-plane logs. I have some plugins, of course, but those are detailed in the Log.txt as usual.
If it was not for the bugs we would not have any new cool features, so thumbs up on bugs
When I move an radio fix in X-Plane local map via the edit feature, how to I then export that into the gateway so that it can be fixed permanently Ben?
You can’t export fixes to the gateway. We just worked out the process for this and I’ll write up a post later. But the short version is: if you find _incorrect_ nav data in the _default_ sim, you should:
1. File a bug on the gateway bug reporter (there’s a new category for nav/fix bugs) and
2. If you have a fix, include the snippet of fix or nav.dat file in the bug report.
Hello Ben ! Why does my boeing 777 worldliner professional weather radar on X-Plane 10.40? while in Sheremetyevo now cloudy.
Press WXR and nothing shows except the arcs grid of the weather radars.Maybe there is some plugin needed ?
Weather radar shows precipitation (rain, snow, hail, etc) not clouds. If it’s cloudy but dry then weather radar will show nothing.
Flightfactor 777/757 use built-in X-Plane weather radar, no extra plugins required.
OFF-TOPIC
Please, do a Ps4 version with Playstation VR (former Project Morpheus) support. It will be a success! Also, I heard that sony is providing a great tech suport to developers.
Hi, I’m running latest 10.40 version on Windows 10.
Suddenly the sim started to crash with no reason, no changed applied to the sim or the OS. It happens BEFORE i have the chance to start moving the aircraft from parking position. I used JarDesign A320 and FF757 with same results. The sim simply crashed and gave me the option to send the report to laminar. I did but also looking at the log.txt this seems to be perfectly normal util “this application has crashed”… May this be related to the audio code inserted in 10.40??? Is this expected to be solved in 10.41?
My X-plane 10.40 just crashes I have turned off cars and still 15-20 min into the flight it just crashes and the log just says this application has crashed
