The good news is: 10.50 beta 2 is out, and it fixes a pile of big problems with beta 1.
The bad news is: it has its own problems – apparently some of the airplane lights are on all the time. This will have to get fixed in beta 3.
If you get a crash on startup, you’ll need to run the installer to get beta 2 – auto-update might not run due to the crash.
A quick note on scenery: I was able to fix one scenery-related crash in beta 1, but there are others still in the code. If you are seeing scenery crashes, I need a Log.txt showing the problem -and- info about what scenery and what settings you combined to get the crash. With the complete reproduction information, I can fix the crash.
Thanks for beta 2 Ben. Still not seeing any city (tall) building autogen outside of the U.S. I know Melbourne, Australia for example has lots of city building heights in OSM. Do we need updated dsf’s with OSM building height data or is there some other trick to it ?
If there’s no height data, you won’t get any tall buildings.
thanks for keeping us updated too
great work!
The way you have been handling Beta with the community si very good. And of course, this is the game, some Beta are better than others … 😉
It would make life easier for all if x-plane give the ablility to x-assign (or provide same service) not to mixup everything each Beta …
I hope enjoy your job , we enjoy the result !
Hi Ben,
How old is the autogen data ? The reason for asking is , for my hometown Bombay I have added like 40-50 high rise buildings in openstreetmap a couple of months back for South Bombay , though are is some change in the autogen but the south Bombay where the data I have added is not showing the high rises.
Rgds.
The data is -years- old, and the height data does not come from OSM – it came from OSM data and other old sources. When we get new data from OSM, this will help with these cases.
Thanks for your reply, would love have latest OSM data as XPX default scenery.
Rgds.
Good day,
My bad I should have sent the CTD, log txt on KBOS and the crash but it was a 3D airport and I was over thing the issue.
Happy Flying,
Brian
How to update A steam version?
You have to wait until the beta is on steam – it’s not right now.
I have notice that I get great Frame rate but in some areas It drops down to almost 3FPS making it hard to close the program. I am not using any new modes, Just trying to keep the most simple. I will try and reinstall because i did add the Glitter Gultch in Las Vegas Scenery. Before in KLAS would be very slow and I live in Las Vegas flying out of North Las Vegas Airport. Looking forward to the Updates.
Great Work as Always

Can you still install XP10.5 if you have both XP10 for steam and CD?
Yes but only over the CD version.
After upgrading to 10.50 I’m having trouble with X plane freezing the computer.
It gets to put the plane on the runway ( Carenado Beech 1900D ) but basically freezes after that. Everything is locked up and so i have to push the reset button.
10.45 was great. Because I did not install as second copy I’m sort of stuck until
a fix comes out. If anyone has a suggestion I would much appreciate it. Regards
Brett.
The whole computer hanging is your computer, not X-Plane…typically it’s the graphics card going south. Sometimes the problem is thermal; if X-Plane is running your computer hotter than anything else that can push you over the edge.
I have a new EVGA ssc gtx 970. It runs around 1189 mhz. For some reason it does not over clock up to its factory overclock. I had the latest driver but downgraded to a previous version. Temp has been fine.At 1189 sits at 29c.
I’m running win 10, 2500k @ 4.7 gig, 20 gig memory. As I said
pretty much ok until new X plane update.
While writing this reply I started Xplane which required a computer reboot, then started again, this time crashing but leaving a meassage saying Open GL driver lost connection with the windows display driver due to exceeding the windows time-out limit. It gave an error code 7 and said to visit the Nvidia website for help. Last bit was faqid=3007 for help. So maybe a driver issue. Ill check it out but may also give you some insight into the issue.
